For Referring Providers

A Trusted Retina Partner for Your Patients — and Your Practice

Midwest Retina Consultants partners with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and primary care physicians across Chicagoland to provide fellowship-trained vitreoretinal care — with prompt scheduling, same-day evaluation when indicated, and timely communication back to your office.

Our Approach

The Midwest Retina Consultants Difference

Midwest Retina Consultants is a fellowship-trained, board-certified vitreoretinal group serving the Chicagoland community. Our scope is deliberately narrow: medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula — nothing else.

That focus is intentional. It means every patient you refer is evaluated by a physician whose entire career, training, and clinical practice is dedicated to vitreoretinal disease — with advanced fellowship training from institutions including Bascom Palmer, Wills Eye Hospital, Yale, UIC, and Rush.

When you refer a patient to our practice, you are referring them to a specialist who will treat their condition with the precision it requires — and return them to your care promptly, with the clear communication you and your patient expect.

Urgent Care Pathway

Urgent and Same-Day Referrals

For patients presenting with sudden vision loss, new flashes and floaters, suspected retinal detachment, acute vitreous hemorrhage, or other findings that warrant immediate evaluation — we offer same-day appointments when clinically indicated.

Call our Arlington Heights office directly at 847-394-3933 and identify the patient as an urgent retina referral. Our front desk will coordinate the fastest available slot with the appropriate physician.

Our Partnership Promise

Our Commitment to You and Your Patients

We understand that when you refer a patient, your reputation goes with them. Our role is to honor that trust — by delivering specialist care and by making the referral process work for your practice, not against it.

We are committed to partnering with regional optometrists, ophthalmologists, primary care physicians, and endocrinologists in the joint care of our shared patient community.

What You Can Expect

Prompt Scheduling

We schedule referred patients quickly — with same-day evaluation when clinically indicated to prevent progression and protect sight.

Patients Return to Your Care

Our scope is retina-only. We do not provide routine eye care, refractions, or general ophthalmology. Once retinal management is established, your patient returns to your office for primary eye care — every time.

Clear, Timely Communication

You will receive a consultation note after the initial visit, with continued updates as treatment progresses. Faxed, secure-messaged, or EHR-direct — whichever your office prefers.

Advanced Diagnostic Imaging

Our locations are equipped with current-generation OCT, fluorescein and ICG angiography, ultra-widefield retinal imaging, and electrophysiology — giving you the diagnostic confidence that informs every recommendation we send back.
