Dr. Enrique Garcia-Valenzuela is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery. He has been practicing vitreo-retinal surgery since 2001, with expertise in both medical and surgical retinal conditions.
Dr. Garcia-Valenzuela earned a PhD and made a groundbreaking discovery showing that adult neurons can die through programmed cell death when injured.
His research has explored damage to retinal neurons and gene therapy approaches designed to prevent neuronal death. He has written numerous scientific publications, delivered many presentations, and served as Primary Investigator in several clinical trials.
